at low levels and when that happens energy companies stop drilling. this was the story in 2012. the number of natural gas rigs was down 46% from the year before. when companies cut back enough, that was something that happened in the second half of 2012. the technology for extracting this was maybe the cycle was broken. that is why tonight we are going off the charts to figure out where it might be headed. garner thinks that trading natural gas is always a dangerous game. hence that is why they call it the widow maker. garner believes that it is still too early to get bullish. there is a strong tendency to rally every year through mid april are. the commodity suffers a great decline in mid-january. in short, she thinks natural gas is maybe to go much lower. take a look at this weekly chart in natural gas. see that is that wedge pattern got that? since this pattern, okay, this wedge gives natural gas a ceiling of resistance at $3.70, the wedge is here, you have to look at this, just look at this line for a moment. there is a lot going on in this chart. now look at this level, th

energy. what to do find overall? guest: a lot of that area was included in the economic stimulus bill. it was a big grab bag, $787 billion of goodies that included many things for energy and the environment. i don't recall offhand the overall ratings for energy but i know a lot were included in the economic stimulus bill. host: is president obama making fewer promises that he was initially? guest: absolutely, the 2012 campaign was a campaign of attacks. when we look back at the moments of the campaign, as you look at the debates, what they were sitting on the campaign trail, what they were saying in commercials -- they spent some months of the time attacking each other and relatively little really laying out their agenda in any detail. particularly, mitt romney did not provide any details about his tax plan but even obama spent some much time attacking the romney that there were fewer promises made. there was less of an agenda. host: one last look at theobameter - he has made progress on 73% of his promises. thank you for being here this morning. coming up next is our regular america

for the last two years. the energy industry is looking much stronger. consumers are more optimistic than the university of michigan publishes the index of consumer sentiment, which is one of the very best guides with how consumers are feeling. as long as the fiscal policy keeps going, there will be some progress. we still have quite a ways to go before we will be dissatisfied. it is actually taken some of the pressure off of congress to try to address these fiscal challenges. the critics on both sides -- you should give the other guys a chance. >> i will get there.
